Daegu Chilgok Tonkatsu Ohho Katsu: The Softest Pork Cutlet Ever!

If you are looking for the absolute best daegu chilgok tonkatsu ohho katsu, you have come to the right place! Hello everyone, and welcome back to my authentic Korean daily food vlog. Today, I had a wonderful family lunch with my husband and my lovely mother-in-law. Finding a restaurant that satisfies everyone’s taste across different generations can sometimes be tricky, but today, we hit the absolute jackpot.

We visited a popular Japanese-style pork cutlet restaurant located in the Chilgok area, a bustling residential district known for its great local eateries. From the unbelievably soft meat to the unique, visually striking ingredients, this place completely blew us away. If you are a fan of crispy, juicy pork cutlets with a healthy twist, you absolutely have to read about this amazing dining experience!

1. The Unique Red Batter and Red Yeast Rice

When our food arrived, the very first thing that caught our attention was the stunning color of the meal. Both the crispy breading of the pork cutlet and the steamed rice had a beautiful, vibrant red tint!

In South Korea, this is made using “Hongguk” (Red Yeast Rice), which is rice fermented with a specific type of red yeast. Not only does it look visually striking and appetizing, but it is also widely known to be very healthy and great for blood circulation. It makes eating fried food feel a little less guilty!

Another incredible point about daegu chilgok tonkatsu ohho katsu is their generous service. In traditional Korean dining culture, side dishes are often free, but this restaurant takes it a step further by offering unlimited refills for the red rice, warm soup, and fresh salad! It is absolutely perfect for hungry travelers who want a fully satisfying meal.

2. The Menu: The Softest Tenderloin Ever

We wanted to taste a little bit of everything on the menu, so we ordered a fun variety of dishes: Cheese Sirloin Katsu, Tenderloin Katsu, a Half Tenderloin & Half Cheese combo, and a Half Sirloin & Half Tenderloin combo.

Let me tell you about the Tenderloin (Ansim). It was, without a single doubt, the softest pork cutlet I have ever eaten in my entire life! The meat literally melts in your mouth, while the red, crispy batter gives it the perfect crunchy texture. The Cheese Sirloin was also a cheese lover’s dream, packed with rich, gooey mozzarella that stretched beautifully with every bite.

We also ordered a side of Udon noodles. To give you a completely honest review, the Udon broth had a very clean taste, but it was a bit on the lighter, more watery side rather than a deep, rich soy flavor. However, it actually worked perfectly as a refreshing palate cleanser between bites of the rich, deep-fried pork.

3. Unbelievable Price and Operating Hours

You might be wondering how much a premium gourmet meal like this costs in South Korea. Amazingly, my massive and incredibly soft Tenderloin cutlet meal was only 13,000 KRW (less than $10 USD)! Getting this level of high-quality meat, unique red yeast rice, and unlimited side refills at such a budget-friendly price makes this place an absolute hidden gem.

If you are planning to visit daegu chilgok tonkatsu ohho katsu, make sure to check their operating hours carefully. They are open every day from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM (20:00). Please note that they have a daily break time from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM (15:00 – 16:30), so plan your visit accordingly! You can find their exact location and plan your route on Google Maps.
